Alan et al,
The "stock" Viking II & the gov't spec'ed "CDC" and the Royal Canadian Air
Force "CC" differed in other suble ways, not the least of which was the
circuitry in the audio chain...
I own a fine example of what is probably the rarest of the breed, i.e. the
"CC"---the schematic for the "CC" calls for parastic suppressor resistors in
the plate leads of the 807 modulator tubes, whereas the stock V-2 does not.
Curiously, my "CC" had these resistors removed when I got the rig last
year---and the audio was absolutely HIDEOUS (distorted, etc.).
The inclusion of these parts was the first BIG step in making the "CC" sound
like good plate modulated AM rig should...
