[Johnson] Question about the Johnson Adventurer Transmitter

You have to change out the tube socket to a "medium"
7-pin type to use the 1625 as well as changing the
heater voltage to 12.6 volts. Those sockets are
pretty hard to find these days! Frankly, 807 tubes
are not hard to find these days. Of course back in
the 1950s when 1625 tubes cost between 10 cents and 25
cents apiece it was a different matter about doing all
the work to substitute them for the 6.3 volt heater
807.

The grid circuit should be loaded down enough not to
require neutralization. Heath did the same thing on
the DX-35 and DX-40 but used the 6146 tube instead of
the 807.

An 807W should work fine.

I was wondering why Johnson did not include any
provision to neutralize the Adventurer Transmitter?
Also, Can 807W type tubes be operated satisfactory?
Has anyone tried using 1625 tubes by increasing the
filiment voltage to 12 volts over the standard 6 volts
for the 807?
