I am the new owner of a Ranger.  Actually neither of us are new and  I'm a
bit older than the radio.
This will my first try at AM since about 1967 and it is my first Viking.  I
plan to marry it to my R-390A.
I've been through the BA routine before as a Collins owner and the first
thing to go are those old capacitors.....

It needs a good cleaning and I would like to get it working "AS-IS" before
modifications.
The 2 fuse plug was replaced with a straight cord and there are no
fuses......

What is the current wisdom on the AC line cord?

I would like to break down the front panel to start cleaning it.  Any secret
tricks?

Many of the cabinet screws are missing and one of the LONG screws.
Thread size?
Replacement for the long screw or will I have to make one?

That will start it, any and all help is appreciated........
