Check this link to Glen Zook's website. This is his expert discussion of the
6146 tube family.
It is my understanding (per his info) that the 6146W can be either a
6146/6146A type or a 6146B type depending on the date of manufacture.  The
"B" type tubes may cause problems with rigs of the Johnson area which were
created before the 6146B was released.
I do not know the answer to your 6AU6 questiion.
