A few days ago, I put out a problem that I was experiencing with my Ranger 2. What was happening was that when I put the transmitter on 6 meters, B+ was applied to the 5763 and under a no key condition, the tube would glow red. Along with that symptom, a "blue" glow would accompany the tube before, during, and after key up conditions. I ended up changing the 5763 with a new unit. Needless to say, I should have done this in the first place (as I have changed out at least two other tubes in the xmtr). The result was a non-glowing 5763 tube.
On the 2 prong fused connectors, I just read the last post with regards to a hams Valiant experiencing HV failure and a "hot" chassis. Initially, I'll probably retain the original fused plug and make an outboard connector connecting the chassis to ground (the power plug ground, that is) and run another wire from that point to the third connector on the three connector line plug. Later on, I may retrofit all units over to an internally fused system. I still have phobias drilling holes in chassis so I'll thing of some other alternative method of installing fuses.
That's about it. 73 de Cal, N6KYR.
