[Johnson] Ranger/Valiant Xtals

Dear Fabio: I really believe it would be the same, 7.143 Mhz. The Valiant
would double the fundamental frequency in its multiplier stage to drive the
finals on 14.286 Mhz, just like the Ranger does. You can also operate your
Valiant on 15 meters by using a suitable 40 meter crystal and trippling in
the multiplier stage to 15 meters. A crystal that oscillates on its
fundamental of, say 7.010 Mhz will tripple to 21.030 MHz. Therefore, any
crystal cut for the low end of 40 meters will also work in your Valiant or
Ranger on 15 meters. -73- Sherrill W. k4own.

Subject: [Johnson] Ranger/Valiant Xtals

    Hello,
I would like to use xtals for 14.286 MHz operation, now my
doubt is : what is the right xtal frequency for Rangers and Valiants ?

A colleague told me the right one for the Ranger is 7143; and for the
Valiant ??

    Thanks and 73,
    Fabio, I0LBE
