Hi Ron
You might try WA1HLR's mods for the Ranger which has the same sort of =
"strangled chook" audio. Basically, there are three methods of attack.

1. Increase the value of the coupling capacitors between stages which =
will increase base response.=20
2. Decrease the value of the capacitors which shunt audio to earth and =
kill the sparkly highs.
3. Increase the value of the electrolytics which are used for cathode =
bypass capacitors

If you got to http://www.amwindow.org/tech/htm/rangtron.htm you will be =
able to see the direction that Tim headed in. I have done them with my =
Ranger and they really make a difference to the audio in a positive =
direction.

Subject: [Johnson] Viking2 simple audio mod?

Hi:
Can someone suggest a simple audio modification for a Viking2 that will
increase the bass response? I made some changes in the first audio
stage and yet there is no bottom end. I know people have done tear-out
and replacement mods, but I was looking for something simple-- if there
is indeed such a thing. Thanks much!

RON K9KLT
