[Johnson] Bypassing Valiant Clipping Circuit.

I want to bypass my clipping circuit and install  a three diode negative peak 
clipper on a Valiant.  After looking over the schematic I was just thinking 
of Pulling the  6AL5 tube and Jumpering over from pins 5 to 1.  And then 
installing the Negative peak clipper on a 9 pin base and put it into the 
accessory plug on the back. This would keep it easy to put it back to a stock 
configuration.  I guess I was just wondering if this was a sound idea?
