I have a Viking II I have just put back on the air. I have a problem, not suprising in a tranmitter that is at least 45 years old. When I first got the rig it would run away and blow the
fuse. with the replacement of the clamp tube and the adjusted the voltage divider (R13) this corrected the problem in this circuit. I smoked three
by-pass cap's which where replaced. One of the 6146's was bad and was changed out. this seems to have solved the problem. My test signals with it were good, there is a small problem in the audio input circuit, I have to crack the mic gain a bite higher then should be needed if thing where too spec's.

I sat down for a good old fashioned AM phone rag-chew. I was about three
minutes into my first long winded transmission, and the rig blew the fuse.
I got on another radio to ask what the failure sounded like and they told me
everything sounded great until a buzzing noise started and grew louder until
the transmission terminated. All the tubes test good, the transformers seem to be ok. Clamp ciruit functioning as it should. It does this both on crystals and the VFO (Johnson M122). Do any of you have any ideas as to
what area of this transmitter to start looking for the problem. After 20 years of storage I am somewhat suprised it worked at all. LOVE THIS OLD STUFF!!!!!!!
