[Johnson] Ranger VFO

Hello Gang,

I wonder if anyone can tell me why the spot signal on my Johnson Ranger I is
different than the actual transmit frequency. The spot is approx 1.25 KC
lower in frequency.

Also, I have been working on a rapid drifting problem with the vfo. I found
the 160 vfo coil had been padded with a 30 mmf cap that was bad and it was
causing most of the drift. I also found the 18K resistor had been replaced
with a 15k so I would assume the OA2 was drawing allot of excess current and
contributing to extra heat. I replaced this resistor under the chassis with
a 25k 5 watt wire wound. I know this is well above the 18K that it called
for but with higher line voltages today will this cause any problems in the
vfo stability? The OA2 is igniting and measures the 150 volts so I guess it
is seeing voltage that is high enough. Any comments?
