[Johnson] 866A catastrophic failures?

Gentlemen, It has always been a policy of mine to replace a.s.a.p.  the 866A 
with 3B28's. I find less trouble with them. I find them must more dependable 
and they don't explode. This was my experience.
I know that some BOATANCHOR fanatics like that nice purple glow. But for 
Johnson Valiant I prefer the Xenon rectifiers over any solid stating.
The 3B28's can be almost be put into service immediately without blowing a 
fuse, where the 866A'S cannot.
