Why pull the center conductor from a piece of RG58/U?
It will work fine as shielded wire as is. If you use
RG58A/U with the stranded center conductor instead of
the solid it is a lot more flexible. Coax is just
shielded wire that is constructed to handle r.f. a
little better than the "garden variety" shielded wire!
In the past I have used RG58A/U as microphone cable in
a switching network that uses one microphone to
several rigs. Works fine!
