Kevin/Steve,

Yes, the 215 is an AM radio, not FM. But it doesn't hurt to keep me
on my toes as far as operating frequencies and privileges go, you did get
me thinking again if I was headed for something "stupid".

Actually, the 215 is almost identical to the "black face" Johnson Messenger
II.
Except it is single channel "rock bound" and has a 15 watt output tube and
modulator tube and no tunable VFO. It's a good candidate for 10 meter AM ham
rig.
They made five versions of that radio, the "-1" was 25 to 30mhz, "-2" was 30
to
35mhz and so on up to the "-5" 50 mhz model.

Tom -

Keep in mind that if you operate FM on 29.000 MHz you will be in
violation of FCC rules and will likely get a citation. You must keep all
of the modulation products ABOVE 29.000 MHz.

I believe those Johnson radios for 25-30 MHz were AM, not FM,and would do
real nice on 29.0. But Tom can confirm that point...
