Ok, Rangerites: A Ranger I I'm cleaning up to add to the stack is giving me
grief. On 20M and 15M, in CW mode only, I have RF drive bleed-through to the
final - not a little, I'm talking enough to give me 18 watts out of the
final to a Bird meter on 20 and about 10W on 15. This is after the
transmitter is properly loaded to about 45 watts on CW (it loads up fine on
both bands) but without it being keyed. Idle plate (actually clamper)
current is also at 90 - 100 ma under those conditions, whereas on all other
bands (and in AM mode on 20 and 15) it's the normal 35-40 ma. This leads me
to believe the buffer is being sort of "partially keyed", but only on CW,
and only on 20 and 15. Before I start redrawing bandswitch schematics, has
anyone had this one pop up, and if so, what was the source of the problem?
Thanks for any info,
73, Jerry W5KP
