I'll chime in with the others, Ed. Run it at rated load using the
recommendations in the manual. These fine old rigs are built for it.
Decreasing the loading on the finals will definitely cause problems. If you
simply don't want to run that much power, get yourself a Ranger I or II,
which will crank out 40 watts+ all day when fully loaded. I run a Valiant
and several Rangers, both I and II, and run them all fully loaded per the
manual. They seem to thrive on it.
