A) Plastic rod from the hobby store cut to the right length (cheap and 
available)

B) Pieces of antique knitting needle (it has the right color)

A) Any glue such as Duco Cement or the like.

B) Shellac, if you want to be able to get them out again later by 
dissolving it with alcohol.
