Hi Tom,  While I don't know anything for sure :^)  In my Desk KW manual
written on the remaining section of the warranty card it says that 404 Desks
were produced as of (I forget the month) 1957.  I've been told by an
employee of EF Johnson, that after the main production of the Desk ended,
Johnson continued to build Desk KW's on a 'onsie basis' for a couple more
years whenever an order came in and until they ran out of parts.  As I
recall being told, by late 1959 or 1960 they finally completely phased out
the Desk KW.  So I don't believe numbers were skipped but there were more
units manufactured after the end of 'production'.  There were parts left
over.  My desk option was purchased separately and spent its life at EF
Johnson being used as a secretary desk since it never sold - until I bought
it and finally paired it up with the pedestal.
