By "RF deck" do you mean a linear amplifier, class "C"
amplifier, or . . . . ?  The term "RF deck" is not
normally used unless you are talking about a specific
assembly that is part of a particular piece of
equipment.  Since the Ranger doesn't have a separate
RF deck, then I would think you are looking for either
a linear amplifier or a class "C" amplifier.  

For AM use a linear is very inefficient.  If you are
looking for higher power only for CW they work fine. 
For both AM and CW, a class "C" amplifier would be the
way to go.  However, you will need to have a modulator
to go along with the final amplifier for AM operation.
 The Ranger can provide the lower modulation stages
for the high powered modulator (this was done when it
was used as the exciter for the Johnson "Pedestal"
amplifier).
