That is exactly what virtually all of the boat anchor
transmitters do including Collins, Heath, Johnson,
etc. You just have to remember to subtract the
current that the other elements have from the total
current to get the plate current.
For example, a single 6146 draws approximatly 12.5 mA
for the screen, etc. A pair draws approximately 25
mA. You have to subtract this from the "plate"
current on transmiters like the Johnson Valiant, Heath
Apache, DX-100, and a lot of the others.
