All:
I posted to both the Collins and Johnson listservers because of the sage technical advice I have received over the years!

I am contemplating constructing a 2 tube multiband crystal controlled rig. It will be CW and AM capable. It will comprise of parts coming from an old Bendix Marine transceiver.

Currently, the transceiver has pretty good parts inside for part of the tank circuit, namely a larger Pi-Dux inductor and a smaller one (I presume for the driver stage). The final output tube is currently a 6146.

I would like to do the following:

1) while I like the 6146, I would like to do away with the plate cap. I have been considering using it's non-anode cousin, the 6550 (as used in the CE 200V). How feasable would this be in a 160-10 meter rig?

2) I have 6 position switches available, none of which will handle the power out that may be found in a 6146/6550 tank circuit. As an alternate, I may use relays to act as the bandswitch with the 6 postion rotary switch acting as the voltage selector switch for the relays. Will there be any problems using this circuit?

Let me know as any ideas would be most appreciated.
