[Johnson] Question on a Valiant. IT'S FIXED ! ! ! ! !

Thanks to Tom W4UOC, I checked again and the shunt resistor was .248 Ohms, I
re-soldered it to where it was .202 Ohms and when I fired up the rig the
plate current went down and the output went up (Without resetting anything)
after retuning & dipping the plates to 330 it went right to 150 watts out
just like the book said ?????
Whoda thunk it...
Many thanks to a great list and all the help, the moral to the story is "If
you have a valiant check the shunt (Small piece of wire with black spaghetti
on it) and verify it's .202 Ohms". Thanks again.
Thanks & 73's Dutch

There was a write up in Electric Radio magazine a few years ago tha the
shunt
resistor changes. It is just a short piece of nicrom wire between the
center
tap of the high voltage transformer and ground. I had the same problem
with
one of my Valiants and I shortened the nicrom wire by about 1/4 inche to
reduce the resistance to .202 Ohm. Needless to say your 5 Ohms is much to
high.
