I have to wonder if the one on eBay is a prototype?  The one I have is #646 and it looks "correct" as Bob said. The only other variants I'm aware of relate to the panel meter; most have black lettering on a white background but some have white lettering on black background.  Also, some meters are square as opposed to the half-moon look; I suspect those are the really high serial numbers.  Does anyone know the where those are in the serial number sequence?

Interesting but I prefer my SN #898 with approval certificate dated 8-9-75 electrical tester ARR, Mechanical Inspector HPS.  Great tuner..
