I am again placing a general call out to the JMS membership to ask for a
volunteer to operate the society W1HRX call in this years AWA AM QSO Party.

As always I seek anyone who has vintage AM gear that would be able to
put our station on the air Saturday, February 17, 2017 @ 2300 GMT to
Sunday, February 18, 2017 2300 GMT.  This is a low-key operation and
contacts are most often QSO's or even round-tables discussions, rather
than rattling off one quick contact after another. Membership in the AWA
(Antique Wireless Association) is also not a requirement to
participate.  However, you must reside state-side to use our societies
call and operate it in this QSO Party.

Once this years W1HRX operator is selected I will work with them to
provide W1HRX QSL cards that can be used for those seeking our vintage
1930's W1HRX replica card.

Anyone wishing to operate W1HRX this year just send me a direct email
at don at radiolabworks.com .

Thanks es 73

Rules for the AM QSO Party
--------------------------
2018 Event Details
Date:  Sat. Feb. 17 @ 2300 GMT to Sun. Feb. 18 2300 GMT

Bands:  160, 80, 40 and 20 Meters

Objective:  To promote and encourage the use of AM as a mode of
operation in ham radio, and, above all, to have fun.

Frequencies:  around 1.885 or 1.945, 3.835 – 3.890, 7.280 – 7.295,
14.275 – 14.295 or 14.340

Exchange:  Name, state, (province, or country).  That keeps the log
simple, but don't be afraid to talk about your station, or to ask about
another station.   This contest is about fun, above all. Nobody cares
about your QSO rate.  Even if you only make a few contacts, please send
in a log so that we will know who is participating and we can track the
frequencies and locations that are used.

Scoring and Classes:  Stations running 100 watts or less carrier OUTPUT,
each contact counts as 2 points.   Stations running more than 100 watts
count as 1 point.   All 20 meter contacts count 5 points regardless of
power output.   You may contact each station only once per band.   See
extra points for the Flagship stations below.

Flagship Stations: There will be two authorized flagship stations
participating in the AM QSO Party.  These stations will not be included
in the final standings.   Their scores will be listed separately in the
results.   W2AN is the AWA Museum and this call will be used by various
volunteer stations in the contest.   The other call sign W1HRX will be
operating courtesy of the James Millen society.   The first contact with
a flagship station counts 10 points, all subsequent contacts with that
station are 1 point. You might work a flagship station on another band,
but any subsequent contacts are scored as 1 point, unless on 20 meters.
You may also score another 10 points for a second flagship station, if
you work them both. Obviously, if you work either on 20 meters, it is
better to score that QSO as 10 rather than 5 points, unless you have
already worked them on another band.

Logs: There is a summary log sheet posted on the AWA web site.   It is
not necessary to send your entire log, only the summary sheet is
necessary.   Even if you only make a few contacts, please send in a log
sheet so you can be counted as a participant.   For those without web
access, send a note to Tim Walker, 19 Woodside Ave., Westport, CT  06880
he will mail you a copy.   E-mail and paper logs must be postmarked no
later than March 30th and sent to one of the following addresses: Send
E-Mail Logs to Tim Walker, W1GIG at att.net

Results: Results will be published in the AWA Journal as well as
Electric Radio plus online at Amfone.net and the AWA Reflector.

Or mail to:
