Hello JMS members,

Just a reminder that this weekend is the AWA AM QSO Party. I hope all
of you who have the capability to generate some "amplitude modulation"
on the ham bands will try and get on and make a few contacts (or QSO's).
As I sent out earlier this month Dennis K0EOO will be putting the
W1HRX call on-the-air from his QTH in Lakeville, MN. From my reading the
other flagship station W2AN will be operated offsite this year as the
original Millen 1930's transmitter has still not found its permanent
home at the new AWA museum location.

I still have not been able to find the rules and summary sheets on the
AWA website as of this writing. Hopefully they will appear before all
concludes. If any JMS member needs a summary sheet just send me a
private email and I can provide a MS Word version of the summary sheet
that I have been using over the years.

Since only summary contact sheets get submitted I personally just log
any contacts I make into my station logbook. I would classify most of
my contacts as QSO's since they often run much longer than a simple
exchange of "required" information. I recall a few years back having a
very nice late night QSO's with a few guys up in W1-land who were
running state-of-the-art Class E solid-state AM transmitters. My little
pip-squeak powered Millen stations was reported to be well over S9
during the QSO that lasted well over an hour. Thus the overall purpose
of the QSO Party is to have fun vs rattling off contact after contact.
You do not need to be an AWA member to participate in this event

Here are the rules from the latest issue of the AWA Journal that I
copied verbatim.
