Bill,
The cap was a special design by Millen just for the 90801. Mine was
cracked when I got my 90801. The reason was that Millen bolted it to
the chassis and also had a nut on the shaft that partly holds the front
legend aluminum plate. If you tighten the front nut to tight it will
pull the cap forward working against the internal mounting. Thus the
caps ceramic structure would crack. Considering all the advanced
mechanical designs in the Millen equipment this cap mounting was a real
snafu.
Back to the cap. It's a 227pF unit. If you duplicate all the coils and
use say a 250pF cap your frequency tuning printing on the front may not
match up well. Still it might not be to bad. Perhaps you can do some
plate removal to get closer to the 227pF. Millen Electronics did have a
couple of the caps several years back. I bought one for my transmitter
due to the original being damaged. So drop a line to Ralph and see if
he has others.
