Hello all,
I'm just dropping you a note announcing that I got my James Millen station
on the air this last weekend. I took a week of vacation and completed the
HV power supply and power modulator, cables and debugging. So far so good.
I have a bit more work to do. I get about 220w out on AM. I could get more
but I need to increase the number of turns on the swinging link. I'm using
812A's in the 90881 in class C and TZ-40's to modulate them class B. I have
the 5" 90905 scope setup giving me a trapezoid and everything looks very
linear. The 90831 speech amp easily drives the Taylor TZ-40's. Here is a
list of the modules I'm using...
90881 500W RF deck with 812A's
90800 160-10M exciter with 6L6 & 807
90700 Vari-arm VFO
90831 40w Speech amp with 6146's
90905 5" monitor scope
Homebrew 500v, 250v, bias, AC switching, Tune switch and exciter grid
current and modulator plate current chassis is rack mounted with the other
Millen rack modules.
Homebrew 1500v supply and power modulator chassis with TZ-40's sets on the
floor on casters. The modulator uses shunt choke feed and negetive cycle
loading.
I'll send pictures as soon as I get things cleaned up a bit. Also, I still
need to black wrinkle paint the small 3" rack panel for the LV, bias, AC
switching and metering stuff so it doesn't look finished yet....
I'll probably be on 75m at 3885 or 3880 all this week (after 7pm) so get on
if you get a chance.
73's, Dennis, k0eoo
