It is not as well known as the former Bell Labs location in Holmdel, but here's an update on the former Western Electric plant and branch Bell Labs building in Columbus, Ohio, from a friend of mine who stayed there when I left.

Jim,

The Columbus site front building is now occupied by Mt Carmel East Hospital.  The West parking lot is now under construction and several Mt. Carmel buildings will occupy that site.  The East Parking lot is 
mostly fenced off except for the extreme north for Lucent parking, i.e. on both east and west sides.

The ball fields and the old field day site is under contruction by MI homes.  There are several hundred houses going in.  

The Lucent offices surround what was once the factory.  Not pretty offices but lots of space for the 1000 or so that are left.

I retired last September and LU hired me back in January part-time as an instructor (contractor).  I work out of Florida and have virtual office at my home.  Just back from a week in New Zealand training Vodafone.

Sure am glad I got that Comp Sci degree from OSU; its been invaluable!!
