[JMS] Millen 90711 VFO

Gosh Bob, you are truly the finder of all thing rare! New in the Box, my gosh!

I never figured that the SO-239 flange was big enough to cover both terminal holes, but seeing your S/N 330 still has the binding posts I'd have to say it is a very strong possibility and an astute observation Bob.

I have to look at what S/N I have. Even your S/N 150 had the Ground terminal labeled on your 90711. Mine is not labeled. It does have the "output" printing, but nothing to indicate which terminal is ground. Forces me to use a scope to determine the signal pin every time I reconnect the unit. An ohm meter check won't do. You'd think by now I would have made a little GND label!

Note the eBay version doesn't have the GND printing either. However, maybe like mine it never had such a label or it was removed with a little acetone or similar product.

So if this eBay 90711 does end up in a JMS members hands we can at least request it be opened to inspect for the two larger holes that would still remain from the original binding posts.

Gosh I'm sure making a big deal out of a little subject, hi hi.

Maybe it's just nice to see the activity on the JMS reflector. ;)

P.S. Really enjoyed Bob Fizette's article on the Depression-Era Receiver in the latest AWA Journal. Plus, his mention of James Millen in the third paragraph. Actually tons of good reading in this issue. Hope to see many JMS'ers out at Rochester next month.

Fellow members,

I have two Millen 90711's - #150 (restored) and #330 (new in the box).
See "unpacking photos" here:
http://www.isquare.com/personal_pages/millenvfo-new.htm

Both have the two terminal output connector. I would bet that the SO-239 shown on the auction VFO has been added. It is positioned directly over the two holes used for the terminal-type connector and the flange of the SO-239 would cover these "old" holes.

I don't really need two 90711's - so if someone has a serious interest please contact me directly (robert at isquare.com).

73, Bob
