All:
Decided to press on with more expenditures toward the amp. Got a 28" compact cabinet to house the 90800, 90881, and 90831 units plus a multiple output power supply for all units. Cost was WAYYYY high. But I'd probably have to wait to find a cabinet to house everything and and I don't have the time as I will be "moving camp" within a month. Also, the cabinet is perfect so maybe I shouldn't cry over the price.
Other than that, I started on the amps high voltage power supply. I made a full wave bridge of the four 6kV .5 amp diodes and a pair of 100 ohm 10 watt resistors. I took a look at my bank of four 400 vdc/560 uFd caps. Dimensionally, they weren't going to cut it. Instead, I have three 100 uFd/450 VDC caps that have a smaller footprint. I figure I will still have just enough headroom for the voltage and have sufficient filtering (about 33 uFd after putting all of these caps in series).
Amazingly, all will fit within the cabinet. Just a note: I was taking a look at the latest ER (Electric Radio) which a man on the cover was using a 1939 Collins transmitter. In another section of the magazine, WA9MZU was discussing the Collins 30 FX and the RCA ACT-200. Oddly, my Millen transmitter looks a heck of a lot like these oldies, although slightly younger (1946).
