Subject: [kyham] Central Kentucky ARRL Hamfest, August 10, 2014
The Bluegrass Amateur Radio Society, Inc., will be holding our annual
hamfest August 10, 2014. What is a hamfest? A hamfest is a meeting of
people interested in Amateur Radio. Hamfests offer exhibits, forums, FCC
license examinations, commercial vendor displays and sales, and tail
gating/flea markets for Amateur Radio operators or "hams." There will be
people from throughout Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia and
Tennessee attending to meet and greet new Hams, and to reunite with old
friends and acquaintences they have either met at other hamfests,
meetings, etc., or spoken to "On The Air," but have never seen
face-to-face. Also present will be folks who have heard about amateur
radio and are interested in finding out what is involved, what
experiences may be possible by being a licensed ham, and how to become
licensed. The cost of a ticket will be $6.00 each (kids 12 years of age
or younger get in free). Tables will be available (limited number
available) at $25.00 each, and breakfast and lunch will be prepared
on-site by members of American Legion Post #34. Location will be
American Legion Post #34 and Anderson County Fairgrounds, 725 W.
Broadway (U.S. 62), Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, adjacent to U.S. 127 bypass.
The gate will open at 08:00 AM and close at about 2:00 PM. More
information may be requested from Jeanie Dalton/KB8QLC (jeanied at twc.com,
(859) 619-9164) or Bill DeVore/N4DIT (billdit at twc.com, (859) 273-8345).
