Hi All,
I have a problem.
I want to go to Dayton Hamvention this year.
I have a ride down there & a room already set up.
Part of my problem is that I need the use of a wheel chair that will elevate my feet while I am at the fest.
Dayton Hamvention has just way too much walking for me to do.
This is because I have circulation problems in my legs & can't be on my feet for very long & when I sit, I have to have my feet elevated or eventually I will get a diabetic type ulcer on my ankle.
(Already been there, done that-NO FUN!!!) {No, I am not Diabetic, I have bad vericose veins in both legs.}
I already looked into renting a wheelchair at the fest, but they don't have anything that will elevate my feet, besides I can barely afford the manual wheel chair, not to mention the scooter-- see the forwarded email.
I own such a wheel chair. It does elevate my feet.
Another part of the problem is getting it to the fest & back home again, plus what to do w/it at night when the fest shuts down till the next AM?
Transporting it between the room & the fest would be a major case of active hemroyds.
Just getting it down there & back home again would be challenging.
I don't have my own transportation right now. My friend Duane-N9SSN is driving down there & invited me to go w/. There might be a 3rd friend going w/, Bryon-(ham call escapes me now).
Duane has a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am, w/o any luggage racks or a hitch. My wheel chair may fit in his trunk but most of the stuff in the trunk would wind up in the back seat.
I will have to ride down there sitting sideways in the back seat. Sitting in the car w/my feet on the floor for the 5 hours to Dayton would do me harm because my blood would pool in my veins that would eventually cause a sore.
In effect, Duane's car is too small to haul my wheelchair to the fest.
So, I am respectfully requesting assistance from some1 who is going to Dayton anyway in a vehicle that has extra room, from/near Merrillville, to transport my wheel chair to/from the fest. I will help you w/the fuel.
I am also respectfully requesting assistance from some1 who is renting booth/flea market space at the fest to store my wheelchair at their fest site so I can pick it up in the AM & return it in the PM. I will pay you for storing my w/c at your site.
If any1 is willing/able to help me out, I would very much appreciate it.
Thank You in advance for your kind consideration & God Bless You.

Dear
Paul,
Thank you for
contact Scootaround, Inc. Unfortunately, at the Hamvention 2010
Convention, we do not have any manual wheelchairs with elevated leg rests
available. Our scooters are also the standard type of scooter, and
regrettably, we are unable to provide any additional equipment to meet your
special requirements. I have included a quote below for the wheelchair and
standard scooter for your convenience.
The cost of renting
a manual wheelchair for the dates of May 14th to May 16th, will
be $75.00 in Dayton, OH at the
Hamvention.
The
cost of renting a scooter for the dates of May 14th to May
16th, will be $175.00
in Dayton, OH at the Hamvention. For your convenience we
have a booth set up at this event where you can pick-up and drop-off your
equipment each day for charging and storage.
We also
provide two important insurance options:
We do
suggest that our customers purchase Cancellation Insurance. The total cost is
only $7.50 and in the event you have to cancel your rental with us, we will
refund your entire rental amount minus the $7.50. Note that we require a minimum
of 48 hours for a cancellation. Thus, if you have not purchased cancellation
insurance and need to cancel your rental with less than 48 hours notice, we will
refund your full rental amount minus $75.00.
We also
offer Equipment Protection Plan for your protection. For only $5.00 per day for
scooters, and $3.00 per day for manual
wheelchairs, Scootaround will cover the cost of repairs to your
rental equipment in the event that it is damaged. This
excludes any additional external devices and/or parts such as keys, chargers,
baskets, canopies, etc.
The cost
of your rental including both of the above mentioned coverages for the dates
of May 14th to May
16th, will be $197.50 for the scooter, and
$91.50 for the wheelchair.
If
you are staying at a hotel, we may be able to have special equipment delivered
from one of our providers to your hotel. We are also able to deliver to a
residence for your convenience. However, you would be responsible for the
transport of the equipment to and from the convention. If you wanted more
information in regards to this, please contact our Toll-Free Rentals Line at
(888) 441-7575.
Thank
you,
Ryan
