Greeting group,

I look forward to hearing everyone this Thursday evening, 4/2/2009,
7:00pm local, 23:00z, on 144.250 USB for the 2m SSB net.

Band conditions have been pretty good for the last few days, so I'm
hoping for a good turn out.

I also want to point out the spring months are great times for VHF
operators. Tropo conditions tend to be good, and 6 meter e-skip season
will get underway soon. To go with this, the annual 2 meter Spring
Sprint is next Monday, 4/6/09, LOCAL time, 7pm to 11pm. Let's all get
on and show some mid-west activity! You can find more info here:

http://groups.google.com/group/springsprints/web/2009-announcement-rules

I would also like to announce we have come to a pretty good agreement.
Most of the 2m SSB net participants would like to move the time a little
later for the summer / day light savings time, hours. I think a good
compromise time for this will be 8:30pm local time, or 00:30z. So
starting with the _*4 / 7 / 2009*_ net, the new time will be 8:30pm
local, 00:30z. This is Thursday evening 8:30pm local time, which is
the same as Friday morning, 00:30 Universal Time. /*Please help me pass
the word around about the time change.

*/Also, there has been a lot of interest in starting a new 6 meter net,
and a 2 meter FM simplex net! I plan to get these started, however, I
really need to make some station improvements before I try to kick these
off. Currently my little 3 element yagi for 6 meters is only 20 feet
off the ground, and my only 2 meter FM antenna is a 4 element yagi at 28
feet. I'm planning to add twenty more feet of tower this spring, and a
good 2 meter vertical, which should be a huge improvement. As soon as I
can make these changes I'll try to kick off the new nets.

Now, if we can just get the auto industry back on it's feet so I can
afford to buy concrete....
