Robert E. "Bob" Pearson
ROBERT E. PEARSON "BOB" SCHERERVILLE, IN
Robert E. "Bob" Pearson, age 75, of Schererville, went home to be with
his Saviour on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. He died peacefully after a 32
month courageous battle with leukemia. Robert leaves behind his adored
wife of 56 years, Rose Marie; five children and their spouses: Carol and
Tom Wing of Lewisville, TX, Dianne and Harvey Robinson of Gary, IN, Judy
and Keith Harrison of Aurora, IL, Dan and Dawn Pearson of Carrollton, TX
and John and Sandy Pearson of Dyer, IN; 17 grandchildren; 21 great
grandchildren; two sisters: Ruth and Jerry Harlow of Madison, IN and
Betty Follis of Farmers City, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; and many
dear friends. Preceded in death by his parents: Elvin and Mabel Pearson;
stepmother, Viola Pearson; and two grandsons: Jeff Robinson and David
Pearson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 11:00
a.m. DIRECTLY at First Baptist Church Main Auditorium, 473 Sibley
Street, Hammond, IN with Dr. Jack Schaap and Dr. Johnny Colsten
officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park,
Schererville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday,
March 20, 2009 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy
Ave., Hammond (Hessville), IN. there will also be a time of viewing on
Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m.
Bob was born in Chenoa, IL on September 9, 1933 and in 1974, he moved to
Schererville. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church since
1972. Bob was a member of the choir for 37 years, a Deacon for 35 years
and taught and lead the singing in the Primary 1 Sunday School Dept. for
36 years. He retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1991 after 35 years of
service. Bob was in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and
was stationed in the Philippines. While stationed there, he developed a
heart for missionaries and Christian radio. He helped to establish
church buildings and radio stations around the world. He was an avid ham
radio operator; his call letters were "W9KKL". Bob wa! s loved and
respected by all who knew him and will be dearly missed. In lieu of
flowers, contributions may be made in Bob's memory to FBC Christian
Radio International, 523 Sibley, Hammond, IN 46320. For more
