To: All Indiana Repeater Coordination Holders and Trustees

From: Indiana Repeater Council

It is time to update all Indiana repeater coordination's.

The IRC has changed to a new data base, and we have found a few data errors in the process. Also, we would like to purge the paper repeaters. This new data base makes the repeater directory more accurate, in that the Directory now comes directly from the data base.

For several years we have been checking all repeater grid coordinates because we have found a few errors, particularly in older systems. Some of the older systems have been found to be 5 to 10 miles from where we thought they were. One was found in the middle of an airport runway. Many years ago applicants often used the grid coordinates of the local community airport. We are fixing those errors. We can now very accurately locate your site.

We have added a couple of new temporary coordinators to make the update process go more smoothly.

We have worked on the area assignment. This is the area that you wish your repeater to be listed under in the directory. Please check your assignment.

When converting to the new database, the sponsor field for the repeater directory remained blank. For this reason, the sponsor listing in the ARRL repeater Directory was not filled in. We are working on transferring this field from the old database to the new database. We are allowed 8 characters for that field.

Please look at your 2009-2010 ARRL directory for accuracy. Please tell us what is incorrect, and if it is not correct, please file an online update.

We are working on getting the online listing updated.

In order to maintain your coordination we must have an update every two years. We need this even if there have not been any changes in your information. If a system's coordination has not been updated in five years or more, we will attempt to contact the holder of coordination by the last telephone or e-mail information we have. If no contact can be made and we believe that the system is no longer operating, we may cancel the coordination and re-coordinate the frequency to another applicant. We cannot be responsible for any de-coordination errors if the system has not been timely updated. Timely updates will help keep your contact information current.

To update on line please go to http://www.ircinc.org and select Online Coordination Form. Please complete as much information as possible and submit the update to us.
