Hello the group,
Well, we got off to a slow start. But it is a start.
I didn't hear many people on. Likely for a couple of good reasons. We
had a major ice storm across the region this week and many stations,
myself included, have been without power and may have suffered some
antenna damage.
My horizontal 2m yagi is very loaded with ice. My standing wave was
running around a 3.5:1, and I get the impression I was pretty deaf on
receive. I did hear a couple of stations in the noise that I just
couldn't pull out. My apologies, but I'm hoping the ice will go away
next week and we can do better.
I would also like to point out I made a couple of rounds with the
vertical beam as well. It was less effected by the ice.
I will be back next week. Thursday evening, 7:00pm, 00:00z, 144.250
USB. /and don't be afraid to call on CW /if you need it to get through:-)
I started beaming north and calling for check ins and then moved the
beam around the compass. If you hear me calling go ahead and check in.
Just give me your location so I can get the beam on you when I go down
the list.
As an addition to this group, I'm considering starting a 2m FM simplex
net. This would give some folks a chance to join us who don't have SSB
capabilities. If you would be interested in participating, let me know.
Looking forward to hearing everyone next week,
73
