Hi All,

This is something different.

I thought you might find this interesting, & may want to share it w/the kids.

Here is some more info about the launch.
*The calls signs, frequencies & modes listed in the 3rd column are
the stations & the frequencies they can be heard on during the
launch.

Unfortunately, the frequencies are VHF which can't be copied every where this email is sent.

Also most of the modes are digital. APRS stands for Automatic Position Reporting system.

If you can copy their transmissions, you can decipher the signal using
a packet TNC [Terminal Node Cotroler]. (Packet is radio bound email
& the TNC is the modem.)

RTTY stands for Radio TeleType which can be decoded by a computer w/the proper software installed.

CW is morse code.

But everybody can enjoy the streaming video via the website.

*I am also sending this to some non-ham radio family/friends, hence the explainations of the terminology.

Thanks.

During this Saturday's UAH balloon launch from Huntsville AL (8:00 am CST)
I plan to do a test of streaming video of the launch via my laptop and a
Verizon wireless card using the British Amateur Television Club's streaming
video website. You have to be a paid member of the BATC to stream video, but
anyone can watch their video streams. In fact, their streaming video service can
handle quite a number of simultaneous viewers and it includes a very nice chat
room.....to have the chatroom display your callsign use the command
"/nick <your callsign>"....i.e. for myself it would be:  /nick
WB8ELK

The URL for this weekend's live launch coverage (starting a bit after
7:00 am):

http://www.batc.tv

select "Members Streams" on the left of the page

Scroll through the streams window until you see:  WB8ELK
... click on my callsign
and then click on VIEW STREAM.

If this doesn't work for some reason, it will say "not streaming" next to
my callsign....if it's working, it'll say "streaming"
