Wow, what a blast:-)
We didn't have the super band conditions we had last week, but we did
have a bunch of new calls in there. This was enough to tie last weeks
total with 20 check ins!
One of the high lights of the net was logging W9JDT, Bob in
Lawrenceburg, Indiana, followed immediately by KF4DSS, Darrel in
Lawrenceburg, Kentucky:-) And, even with the relatively flat band
conditions we still managed to pick up W9DZ, Allen in Michigan City,
Indiana, W9ETA, Bob in Martinsville, Indiana, and Steve, N9YK, all the
way up in Angola, Indiana. I know it was tough at that distance, so
thanks guys for putting in the effort!
Another big THANKS and welcome to all of the new calls that joined us
this week! I've received a lot of positive feedback from folks who like
the net, and it is you guys that are really making it a success. The
more people we can get to join us, the more fun it will be. Tell you
friends and neighbors to jump in and join us. We've stretched across
the entire length of Indiana, but we haven't covered much of Kentucky
yet. I would like to point out close to half of our check ins were
running vertical antennas:-) While I would encourage everyone to add a
horizontal beam, or loop, don't hesitate to join us if all you have is a
vertical. A horizontal beam will make a big difference if you want to
go further with grid collecting or contesting, however.
And lastly, for next week, I would like for us to add our grid square to
the report during check in, or comments. Most of the "weak signal VHF
operators" you will run across will be actively collecting grid squares
for awards, or for contesting. If you don't know your grid square you
can look it up on WWW.QRZ.COM, or just ask me! I'm pretty familiar with
the grids across Indiana and Kentucky so if you tell me your location I
can tell you what grid you are in. Just scanning the list of check ins,
I can see we covered 5 or 6 different grid squares last night!
