We are planning a test of some of the equipment and setup strategy on
Saturday Oct 18th at Memorial Park. Please try to attend and lend your
support.
We are looking for operators and loggers to come work the station. We are
also looking for stations to contact during our event. We will be on the air
around 10 AM and operating till dark or later. We will be operating all
field day bands and modes that we can locate equipment for.
Below is a press release from the Henry County Amateur Radio Club
Field day 2009
In preparation for the HCARC 2009 Field Day on June 7th and 8th, we strongly
encourage all members who can to participate in this instructive and
enjoyable event.
We are planning for our members to bring a sizeable amount of equipment this
coming year. In 2008 we were on air with only three rigs. In 2009 we want to
be on the air on all bands and in all modes. As you can see, this will
require a lot of coordinating, support and planning. We would like to
request that all members who are joining us as volunteer operators or who
have needed equipment contact our event coordinator Howard Dudley
KC9JRW at yahoo.com as soon as possible. This will facilitate our planning
process.
Not only will the stations need to be set up with proper field antennas, we
will need operators and loggers who can commit to a few hours of on air
time. The loggers do not need to be hams so if you have a friend who can
work a keyboard bring them along.
Field Day was first held in 1933 and now uses all modes including satellite
communications on HF and UHF/VHF bands. In 2009 we would like to work
160-80-40-20-15-10-6-2 Meters, which are the bands allowed.
As you can see we will need eight rigs with antennas and operators to man
them for the 24 hour event for each mode of operation. By using control
operators we can use techs on the upper bands to keep making contacts and
start them thinking about an upgrade so they can start to enjoy the world of
HF.
Equipment needed for the 2009 Field Day
. Rigs for all bands
. Rigs for all modes
. Antennas
. Generators
. Lighting
. Coax
. Twin lead
. Grounding equipment
. Antenna support rope
. Operators with times that they can be counted on to man a station.
. Loggers to track contacts and duplicates
We are planning a test of some of the equipment and setup strategy on
Saturday Oct 18th at Memorial Park. Please try to attend and lend your
support.
If you are unable to attend our September meeting but can join us for our
test field day please contact Howard Dudley KC9JRW at yahoo.com. We are now
working on antennas at Jays' class on Wednesday nights at 1800 hours at the
EMA building, any help would be appreciated
