Automatic Packet Reporting System

APRS is a protocol that uses unconnected AX.25 (packet) frames to
transmit short bursts of data. That data could be your position, the
weather at your location, a brief message, or other telemetry.

APRS was developed primarily by Bob Bruninga WB4APR, a professor at
the U.S. Naval Academy. You can check out his web site at:

http://web.ew.usna.edu/~bruninga/aprs.html.

A common use for APRS is to automatically report a mobile station's
position. If you go to:

http://www.db0anf.de/app/aprs/stations/mobile-W9RXR-9

you can see where I've been lately. Note that that data is a little
out of date because I haven't turned my tracker on since Monday.
