Indiana QRP ops....
FYBO 2005 is just around the corner. Saturday Feb 5 is the big day.
Is there any of you that would want to meet at Johnson County Park and work
the event with me?
Here are the rules for the 2005 FYBO (Freeze Your B___ Off) Contest:
FYBO Winter QRP Sprint, sponsored by the AZ ScQRPions

Categories: Single Op (Home/Field), Multi Op (Home/Field), Multi-Multi (Club)
Stations. Work stations once per band. Score 1 point per QSO.
Multi-Op stations must use a single transmitter.
Exchange RST, State/Province/DXCC Country, first name, power out, and
temperature (Fahrenheit) at OPERATOR'S POSITION. Indoor stations must report
INDOOR temperature.
Example: 579 AZ Frosty 2W 40F
Multipliers:

Lowest Operating Temp (at OP'S POSITION):

50-64 F = x2;
40-49 F = x3;
30-39 F = x4;
20-29 F = x5;
Below 20 F = x6.
Final Score: [ (QSOs x SPCs) ] x Temp Multi (x Field) (x AltPwr) (x QRPp) +
(NQ7RP Bonus Points)
Example: 50 QSO's, 23 SPC's, 35 degrees F, Field, Battery, 500 mW, 2 contacts
w/NQ7RP
[ (50 x 23) ] x 4 x 4 x 2 x 2 + 20,000 = 93,600 points
Prizes: Top Entry in each category receives a paddle. Multi's will have to
determine how to award this paddle within their own group.
Additional prizes (Stinger Singer semiKit -- board/chip) will be awarded for
the top score in Outdoor Single Op in each call zone (including Canadian
zones), and for the top score in a DX entry.
Each operator making 10 or more contacts will receive a ScQRPion Pin. Be sure
to note the operator changes in the logs.
For contacts with NQ7RP, add 10,000 points. One contact per mode per band
allowed.
NOTE: This is a contest, not an episode of Survivor. Be aware of the
temperature and the possibility of cold injury!
Prizes will be awarded for the top score in Outdoor Single Op in each call
zone (including Canadian zones), and for the top score in a DX entry.
Please include your soapbox comments with your log! We'd like to hear of the
trials of cold-weather operating, and any and all anecdotes are appreciated.
Logs are due 30 days after contest.
Please mark logs with category, i.e, single, multi-op, multi-multi.
Email ASCII-text entries to: azscqrpions at covad dot net
Include summary sheet, callsign, operator(s), power, location, and lowest
operating Temp. Include mailing address for each log so we can mail the pins
out.
