Statewide Tornado Drill is March 8

_*

If the warning sirens in your area went off tomorrow to signal that a
tornado had been spotted, would you know what to do? Well, here is your
chance to prepare. On March 8 at 10:07 EDT Kentucky Emergency Management
will conduct its annual tornado drill. It’s only a test, but it’s a
great chance to practice what you would do if this were a real event.

The statewide drill is one of the most important exercises you may ever
participate in. Schools, offices, local emergency services, the media
and citizens all across Kentucky will pretend there’s a real tornado on
the way. Everyone gets an opportunity to test his or her preparedness plan.

"Sometimes folks may take a lighthearted approach to emergency drills.
We hope this year they will give some serious thought to what they might
do if there’s an actual event," says Larry Burnette, Assistant Director
of the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management. "Doing this right
during ‘dress rehearsal’ could easily save your life when the real thing
comes along."

You can find out more about severe storm safety by contacting your local
Emergency Management agency. Check your local phone directory or visit
the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management on the web at
http://kyem.dma.state.ky.us/.

We will be running a net on the 146.70 repeater, using the callsign
WX4NWS at the Louisville National Weather Service, please give us a
contact during this drill.
Thanks, Stu Kratz wx4me
