INARRL BULLETIN 016-2004
10:45PM EST 09/08/2004 de KB9BVN

ARRL Headquarters is thrilled to announce approval for Year 3 of the
CNCS
(Corporation for National and Community Service) grant to train the
Field
Organization, ARES groups and ARRL members -- especially Seniors -- in
emergency communication skills at various levels.

We're also excited about a new portion of the grant that creates the
Amateur
Radio Community Education Program. This pilot program will involve some
ARES groups and ARRL affiliated clubs in selected Citizen Crops
communities.
They'll assist in putting Amateur Radio's best foot forward by providing
demonstrations to community organizations. The initiative is designed
is to
tell the Amateur Radio preparedness story to a dozen Citizen Corps
Councils
across the country.

There will be a CEP Coordinator who will prepare, organize and present
the
program and support the clubs and ARES groups who will help that leader
during presentations with live demonstrations. The CEP Coordinator will
be
instrumental in the follow-up work with local Citizen Corps groups to
include Amateur Radio in local emergency plans.

Please check out the Web story,
http://www.arrl.org/news/stories/2004/09/08/100/?nc=1, for more details,
and
watch the ARRL Web site as more information is shared. This
announcement is
also going to ARRL clubs.
