Less than 48 hours away!!!=20

The 5th annual Skywarn Recognition Day (SRD) 2003 will get underway at 7 =
pm EST Friday December 5 and continue through 7 pm EST Saturday December =
6. So far, a record total of 115 stations, including NWS Northern =
Indiana WX9IWX, have signed on for the event. This is always a great =
event that celebrates the contributions that volunteer Skywarn radio =
operators make to the National Weather Service.

WX9IWX will be operating on 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m, 10m, 2m, and 70cm via =
phone and some cw, rtty and psk-31. Come find us! NWS stations will not =
work on 160 meters or any of the WARC bands. While there are no specific =
band plans given for the event...all contacts will be made utilizing the =
general or novice portions of the bands.

This year, as in the past, an SRD certificate will be issued for working =
one (or more) National Weather Service office(s). Submit a list of the =
NWS stations you worked with a self-addressed stamped envelope to: =20

For you serious "paper chasers", you can earn endorsements on the SRD =
certificate by working a minimum number of NWS stations in specific =
categories. Download the SRD checklist and mark off the stations as you =
work them. Include the checklist with your certificate request. The SRD =
Checklist will be released at 2300 UTC on December 4.

Special Mini Certificate: =20
If you work the NWS office in Hastings Nebraska, you will automatically =
qualify for a mini certificate noting the largest hailstone ever =
recovered in the United States. The stone fell in the community of =
Aurora, Nebraska on June 22, 2003, during a severe thunderstorm. It =
measured 7 inches in diameter.=20

Special WX9IWX QSL=20
If you contact WX9IWX, National Weather Service Northern Indiana, during =
the event...please send us your QSL card, along with a self-addressed =
stamped envelope, for your WX9IWX QSL card.=20
Send to:
      Skywarn Recognition Day
          260 N. Gettysburg Ct.

Many other NWS offices are also accepting and sending out QSL =
cards...for more info on the event, including additional QSL =
info...visit=20
