COMMENTS:
   Very busy month with Public Service Events ranging from Parades,
Runs and a Hovercraft Cruise. Members of the Wabash Valley Amateur
Radio Association (Terre Haute) and the Tippecanoe Amateur Radio
Association (Lafayette) joined forces to cover the 100 Mile World
Hovercraft Championship Cruise from Terre Haute to Lafayette on on the
Wabash River. On Sunday September 15 and then on the return cruise on
Monday September 16. 42 Hover craft from all over world participated in
the cruise. Amateurs participating were KB9SSS, KF9UP, KB9YOX, KB9ZSU,
KC9BBW, N9LF, K9HER, WB9BRX, K9MAB, N9WEW, KC9ST From the Lafayette
Club. Amateurs Participating were N9YNF, K9ERE, N9FMD, AB9CG, KB9HYH,
KB9TJX, KB9RQH, KC9AOR, N9YRX, AB9GI, K9DRP, KC9BBJ, K9HX, KC9UU,
KG9GN, N9ZIV. Also enlisted were the Purdue Amateur Radio Club W9YB,
the WVARA Club station W9UUU, the NS9M repeater in rockville along with
repeaters in Lafayette and Danville IL. The participants were very
grateful for our support.

The following week on Friday September 20 severe weather swept across
the state with a several Tornado touch downs. One from south of
Indianapolis to northeast of the metro area was on the ground for about
90 miles. Amateurs from the affected areas and surrounding areas
responded first with Skywarn operations and then with responding
agencies. Marion county alone logged 700 man hours in support of the
effort. Many more man hours where done as well however all reports are
not in at this time. Thanks to the many operators who participated.
