SUBJECT: FIELD DAY 2002 INDIANA RESULTS
I know most of our arrl members have already viewed their particular
group standing in QST but few if any have looked at the entire list
of Hoosier participants.
The old saying still prevails that field day is a one time per year
operator session that supposedly lets everyone operate at less than
optimum conditions. I dare say for some it means that generators,
towers, antennas, connectors and operators come together at least
once per year for a test.
Having said that much it is certainly hoped that you had a good
feast on top of all the operating fun. It is generally understood
that field day is old hat for many but every year we also have a
newcomer joining the group to learn how to cope with cayuse on the
bands.
There were 2093 official entries this year compared to the 2065
in 2001. This includes participants from every arrl/rac in Region 2.
There were 8 received from DX stations, 136 QSO's were made with
the International Space Station reflecting a total of 34,498
participants.
A second rule change had a large impact on field day as the old
novice/technician station was replaced with a Get-On-The-Air
station.
Well nuff said on all that, I tried to massage the data some-
what compared to the way it was presented in QST and I will
apologize in advance if there are any glaring errors on my
part.
Thanks to Roger/N9QCL who helped me convert the data to just
a plain text version instead of the PDF.
