COMMENTS:
October was a quiet month. The Simulated Emergency Test was already
held by various ECs. I have already received 2 SET reports for 2002.

Of the 11 DEC and 92 EC Positions for ARES in the section. There are
presently only 47 appointees and 4 applications for EC appointments. Of
those 47 appointees only 19 filed reports this month which is
disappointing. I hope that everyone can file there report every month
and on time by the 2nd of each month. I do accept them by email, NTS
traffic and regular mail. A number of ECs are still using the older FSD-
212 form which does not include Public Service, Emergency Nets and Man
Hours for all activities.

With 52 vacancies that need to be filled in the section. The Indiana
Section Web Site (http://www.inarrl.org/) now has an ARES portion that
shows which areas have appointments and those that don't. I encourage
any one in any county to get involved at any level. From the EC level,
for counties without appointees, to being involved with ARES and
helping your EC.

A new email list [email protected] has been setup and it is a
"private" list for Indiana Section EC, DEC, SEC or their designees to
subscribe and receive up to date announcements and reminders.
Additionally it should serve as a forum for appointees or their
designees to discuss issues that are relevant to ARES in our section
and their local operations. Short of requiring membership in this list
it is only very strongly encouraged at this time.

I will be at the Fort Wayne Hamfest / Indiana ARRL Convention November
16 and 17. Everyone is welcome to stop by and talk.
