Gene as he was known to his fellow amateur radio
operators had previously been a member of the
Whitley County Amateur Radio Club (WCARC) in
Columbia City, Indiana. Gene had not been very
active in ham radio the past few years but had
been generous to our club.

Eugene Frank Morr, 84

November 27, 1917 - October 27, 2002

Eugene Frank Morr, 84, a resident of
Columbia Township, died at 2 AM Sunday,
October 27, 2002 at his home.

Born on November 27, 1917 in Fremont, a son
of Frank and Edith Ione (Bohler) Morr, his
formative years were spent in Northeastern Indiana.
He graduated from Ashley High School and received
an associate degree in engineering from Tri-State
College in Angola.

On January 1, 1949, he was united in marriage to
Melba I. Hartman and they made their home in
Kokomo where he was employed by the Haynes-
Stellite Company from 1949 to 1971 and from 1974
until his retirement in 1984 as a line worker-
assembler for Delco Electronics in Kokomo. After
their retirement, they moved to Mrs. Morr's family
farm south of Columbia City. Mrs. Morr preceded
him in death on February 18, 1997.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. army an
was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Surviving relatives include three daughters,
Christine (Arthur) Hillman of Leamington, Ontario;
Anne (William) Schmidt of Raleigh, and Susan
(Steven) Bienz of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren:
two great-grand-daughters and a  sister, Doris
Virginia Carpenter of Ashley.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death
by a brother, Floyd Morr.

The funeral service was at 1 PM, Wednesday, Oct.
30, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Columbia
City, with the Revs. Christine Hillman and the
Hilary Krivchnia officiating. Burial was at
Eberhard Cemetery, Columbia Township.

A very interesting testimony and history for Gene
Morr was provided by his family and friends.
