This is a followup on the magnetic sign topic.

You can buy magnetic sheets that feed through your
inkjet printer.  These are 8.5 x 11 inches, black on
one side and white on the other (you print onto the
white side).  They are very thin and flexible and
can easily be cut into shapes.

At just a few dollars a sheet, they are a great way to
make temporary, protrotype, or custom magnetic signs.
While I've actually used one for over a week, I don't
think they have the durability or color-fastness for
permanent/long-term use.

A tip.  After the ink has dried, spraying the surface
with hairspray affords greater water protection.
