My vote is to NOT ALLOW any FT4 or FT8 contacts.

Sunday, October 20, 2024 is the upcoming Illinois QSO Party. I've not said
much about it so far since, frankly, I've been busy with other stuff. That
doesn't mean it's not still important and CLOSE!!
Please send your plans either to the reflector or to W9DP or N9JF directly,
and the activity map will be updated starting soon.
The rules on the website https://w9awe.org/ilqp/ have been updated but
probably will still get some tweaking.
For one thing, the "Unlimited" category DOES HAVE A SPONSORED PLAQUE for
2024. Pretty much anything goes there with multiple operators and
transmitted signals under one callsign. I have not given a lot of thought
to the implications, but we'll see what happens. My initial thought is that
this should be for portable operations, not fixed. Thoughts?
A question that is posed frequently concerns FT4 and FT8 contacts. Yes,
they are permitted. HOWEVER ... I have yet to see anyone submit a log with
such contacts that conform to the "all contacts much include the county,
state, province or country of the station contacted". This information must
be logged on the air, not by a web search. Thoughts on this? Disallow FT4
and FT8? Or let people use their ingenuity? I would not personally go to
the trouble to try to get people to send me that information, during the
contest, on those modes; but it could be done by "free form texts".
Thoughts?
Much more later.I'm just getting started...
