[ILQSO] ILQP upcoming

This will be my first year participating from outside IL since our move to
KS (hopefully)- my 4.5 cents (adjusted for inflation)...
In my mind, FT4/FT8 are NOT contesting modes (at least for this type of
contest). They're not conversational at all...PSK, RTTY... great, go for
it! Those are easy to riff on if you want.
I do not consider a contact in FTx the same as any other mode. I look at it
as "ok, I was able to get a signal to this station in <wherever>". Now...
my goal is to replace that contact with one in another mode like a more
robust digital mode, or SSB or CW... where I can talk with someone and get
more than the briefest automatic exchange.
Feel free to contact me off list if you'd like to discuss further... as I
said, my 4.5 cents... and my flameproof shorts are on. 😁
